Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
The Department was established in the year 1998 with an intake of 40 students and subsequently the intake was enhanced to 60 in the year 2000-01, 90 in 2009 and 120 in 2010 for B.Tech programme. The Department offered one M.Tech programme on Power Electronics and Electric Drives in the academic year 2009-10 with an intake of 18.The department received ISO: 9001 – 2000 certification and accreditation by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi in the year 2006.
The department has grown to a level in terms of infrastructural and academic standards on par with other premier institutions in the region. The department has well experienced faculty and maintains a faculty student ratio of 1:15 as per AICTE norms. Departmental laboratories like Electrical Circuits, Electrical Machines, Electrical Measurements, Control Systems, Power Electronics and Simulation of Electrical Systems, are fully equipped to carry out experiments as per AICTE and JNTU norms and to impart practical knowledge to students who can take up any assignment after their graduation.
The department acquired Licensed MATLAB software which includes Control System Tools, Neural Network Tools and Power Electronics Tools. In addition PSPICE, PSIM and SKM Power Tools software are also available to study the advances in the field of Electrical Engineering and to take up in-house projects. The department has qualified and dedicated faculty members with Ph.D & M.Tech qualification and are instrumental in building the career of the students. The staff is active in pursuing research activities and present papers in national and international conferences regularly.
The department also received a grant of Rs. 7.25 Lakhs MODROBS scheme of “Modernization Of Simulation Of Electrical Systems Lab” and a seminar grant of Rs:1.50 Lakhs for “DSP Controlled Power Electronic Systems and Applications”.
The department periodically organizes National level conferences, seminars / Symposia, workshops and arranges guest lectures for the benefit of the students and faculty as well. The students are placed in various organizations like INFOSYS, CTS, IGATE, LEGEND, WIPRO, SATYAM, SIMENS ,Robort Bosch and CARITOR.
Faculty members are actively involved in research and academic developmental activities and attend summer / winter schools / workshops / conferences to acquire the technical knowledge about the latest developments in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The management has keen interest to promote quality education and provide financial assistance to faculty members for attending seminars / workshops etc. The Department every year conducts industrial tours and visits to various industries and power houses for students as part of their curriculum. The Department encourages the staff members to pursue M.Tech and Ph.D programmes to improve their qualifications.
